Virtual Session FAQs

What virtual sessions do you offer?

You can have a 1-1 session, a duet or a mat class from the comfort of your home.

What do I need for an virtual session?

Our virtual sessions are taught via Zoom. You’ll need a computer, laptop or tablet with a camera that is connected to the internet.

You’ll also need a yoga mat and with a good amount of space around it. The exercises will extend beyond the mat, so ensure there’s nothing near that you could hit or kick during the workout.

Some of our clients have small pieces of workout gear, like a Magic Circle or resistance bands. You won’t need these for classes, but if you’re having a 1-1, let your teacher know what you’ve got.

What can I expect in a session?

In an virtual session, you will explore the Classical Pilates mat repertoire. These are the same exercises you’d do in a studio-based mat class. If you’re used to working on our studio apparatus, you’ll be familiar with names and format of many of the exercises. The exercises start at beginners levels with intermediate and advanced exercises available to enable you to continually challenge and strengthen your body.

Joseph Pilates developed mat exercises before exploring springs apparatus to enhance the workout. In Pilates’ words, the mat repertoire "develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind & elevates the spirit."

“I've been attending sessions at Breathe for 5 years. The teachers are fantastic - knowledgeable, supportive and encouraging. I didn't initially transition to online sessions in March - I wanted to wait until I could return to the studio - but I really regretted it. I felt weaker and less coordinated. The online sessions have been fantastic - I've benefited from the same level of insightful teaching that challenges and strengthens my body but from home.”
